Reattempt the repair from the beginning. He smashed the last one pretty bad so I don't doubt that it's a dirty pin problem as well after reading all of these posts. I again disconnected the battery and screen and then reconnected them. Everything else works nice. official site

There is a liquid damage indicator on the back on your device under the back door, and next to the battery. If iTunes will not acknowledge the phone, your charge port certainly needs to be replaced. Reply Doctor Dan June 24, 2014 Thanks William, Your digitizer cable simply came unplugged. Was this answer helpful? While your in there, take your screen fully off, and gently bend back your LCD cable (the short cable). If the foil is intact, you may simply have a defective screen.
